Summer is over and it's back to school! Getting 11 children ready for school took a lot of time and preparation I'm sure. But, from what I hear, gramma never worried and the kids were always ready. Back in the day they didn't have all the wonderful learning tools we have today, but I hear Allie Forest, the teacher at the Cranbrook School was a wonderful teacher. This variation of a Grandmother's Flower Garden block, when sewn together, reminded me of the one room school house that my mom, Edna, and all the Cameron children attended. When I hung the quilt on my design wall, I was able to see all the points at the top and bottom, which reminded me of pencils and/or crayons standing in a row. The block, itself, reminded me of all the colors in the pencil/crayon box.
