I think it's safe to say, as quilters, we are all familiar with patchwork. We cut small pieces of assorted fabrics, then patch them back together into an arrangement that pleases us. Sometimes we work with only fabrics, but sometimes it's just fun to use a combination of different textures to liven things up a bit. Gramma would have done just that. I remember hearing that she had to use what she had on hand to make the various quilts that they used every day to keep warm. Patchwork Angels is the title for this particular pattern format. I'm introducing to you two new patterns, but watch for more to come! I have found that I love to work with both fabric and wool. Pieced fabric and wool applique just seem to go together nicely. For those of you that find needle turn applique difficult or more time consuming than you like, wool applique is the ticket. You just cut out the shape and sew it down, with no additional seam allowance or turning anything under. It doesn't get any easier than that. I love the way the two different textures look together too. You can embellish even more by adding buttons, rick-rack and fun stitches. In other words you can have it all by just using your imagination. The angels you will meet in a moment will make you smile. There are 4 of them flying among the stars and they will protect you always.
