Welcome to the Schoolhouse

Schoolhouse is a place to sit a spell and learn something new — just like the old one-room schoolhouses many of us remember. No pressure. No grades. Just sharing what I’ve learned over the years and passing it along to those who love quilting as much as I do.

Over time, I’ve been asked to teach certain topics again and again at guilds, retreats, and quilt shops. Schoolhouse is my way of bringing those lessons home to you, so you can learn at your own pace, in your own sewing room, whenever it suits you.

I’ll be adding new classes as time goes on. Some will be big ideas. Some will be small lessons. All will be things I truly use and believe in.

Color Confidence for Quilters

“Sew What Color Is It?”

I’ve been asked for years to explain how I work with color. This class is the foundation of how I choose fabrics and make decisions that feel right — not overwhelming.

Inside, we’ll walk through seven basic principles that can completely change how you see color in your quilts:

  • Color Categories

  • Hues

  • Value, Tone, and Shade

  • Intensity

  • Complementary Colors

  • Deciding on a Project

  • Warm and Cool Color Balance

By learning and using just these seven ideas, you’ll continue to grow and gain confidence with every quilt you make.

What Should We Learn Next?

Schoolhouse will grow as questions arise — and I’d love your help deciding what comes next.

Please take a moment to tell me which class you’d most like to see added to the Schoolhouse.
