Pick a Pie

When the winter months seem to drag on forever, spring is such a welcome change for most people who live in the North. My family is from Canada so I've heard many stories of long hard winters and how everyone in the family was grateful for the wonderfully huge garden gramma always had. Everything you can think of was grown; potatoes, white and sweet, corn, carrots, cabbages, cucumbers, peppers, beans of all sorts, every kind of squash. I recall there were strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and a favorite of mine, rhubarb. I also remember mention of a snow apple tree! Gramma was a wonderful cook and baker who she passed on her skills to all the family. The question of the day was always, "So what's for dinner?" and dinner wasn't complete until there was dessert!
