The Painted Lady

My Aunt Roma, who you've already met in my pattern, A Tisket A Tasket - Aunt Roma's Garden Basket, was not only a wonderful gardener. She loved the birds and butterflies as well. She could tell you just by their songs, which birds were visiting her yard. I'm sure having such a beautiful array of flowers is the reason the butterflies enjoyed coming for a visit. It's just been a couple of years now that I've been building my own butterfly garden and it's only been this year that we've started to feed the birds. I'm beginning to understand her love of the outdoors and all the critters that would come to visit. We have many different kinds of butterflies that come to the yard. My granddaughters and I actually saw one emerge from its chrysalis last year.
