I can remember, just like it was yesterday, when Gramma made homemade vegetable soup. Of course all the ingredients came from her garden. Having 9 children to help, the garden was always in full swing. There was always a bountiful harvest of either fresh vegetables or those that were canned for such an occasion. She would start very early in the day, adding first the vegetables that took longer to cook, and adding more as the day progressed. Oh, the smell was wonderful. She would also bake 14 loaves of fresh bread twice a week, and churned her own butter too, so you just knew all the ingredients for a wonderful meal would be on the table.
