Summer Susans

I've always loved flowers of every shape, size and color. So every spring I get excited and plant all kinds of bulbs, seeds and seedlings and then proceed to think that they will just grow abundantly without little help from me, which of course is not the case. However, I got really lucky one year when my sister-in-law brought me a couple of black-eyed Susans already potted and ready for me just to admire. I planted them in a bed close to the front porch so we could see them when we'd sit in the rocking chairs with our afternoon coffee. Each year they wither, and I did lose one of them, but then one came back for another season of enjoyment, then another. I've loved having that plant so much it just inspired me to make this quilt I call Summer Susans.
